Searching for Installation Art

Finding books, exhibition catalogs, and magazine articles about installation art is not always easy.  Here are some tips for searching for Installation Art in OBIS and ARTbibliographies MODERN.

OBIS

You can browse the shelves in the Art Library under the call number N 6494 .I56 for group shows and general books on Installation Art.  Most of our Installation Art books and exhibition catalogs are not under this call number, however, since one-person shows and books are under the call number assigned to the artist.  Here are some tips for finding books and exhibition catalogs:

Try the following as “subject” searches:

Installations Art
Conceptual Art
Environment Art
Earthworks Art
Assemblage Art

Or combine the above in “keyword” searches; for example:

Installations and Art
(Conceptual or Installations) and Art
(Environment or Earthworks) and Art

ARTbibliographies MODERN (OBIS)

Use ARTbibliographies MODERN (ABM) to find magazine articles.  ABM also includes books and exhibition catalogs that deal with 19th and 20th century art.

In the “Subject/Artist” box try the following:

Installation Works
Conceptual Art
Land Art
